Description: This dataset is intended to represent the location and basic attributes of known, recorded, historic nesting locations of sea turtles within the Sunshine Coast LGA. Data dates back to 2008 and the turtle nest monitoring area is from North Bribie Island to Noosa Heads. Features within this dataset have been captured by various personnel and methodologies.Nesting and turnaround events are measured using uncorrected GPS, measurement from beach access or post triangulation, or approximation where more accuratedata was unavailable. This data was derived from data sheets recorded by volunteers from the Sunshine Coast Council TurtleCare program and Coolum and North Shore District Coast Care, and remains their intellectual property. The Asset Information Team assisted with the GIS data model.
